Lilly Pulitzer Warm Up to Summer Try On Session

It’s almost summer and Lilly Pulitzer just released a new collection this week, so I visited my local Lilly store to check out the new arrivals.

This is a picture from the day I got fitted for the fashion show I was in. I’m wearing a skort I bought during an After Party Sale.

There are eight new prints for this collection, including “Magical Mary” a special print designed by a little girl fighting cancer. A portion of the proceeds is going to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I love that Make-a-Wish teamed up with Lilly Pulitzer to make this little girl’s wish come true. The other new prints include three citrus prints, a pineapple print, a floral print, a turtle print, and a feather print. (To my friend who hates feathers, I apologize in advance and you might want to skip the Ready to Wear Ruffles picture.)

Perfect for the Pool

Declan Dress in Multi Squeeze the Day

With summer almost here, this crew neck t-shirt dress is a go-to for a hot day. The Declan Dress is long enough to cover your assets, but show off your summer tan. It’s figure flattering without being skin tight, and there’s a small front pocket. Maybe if you wear it to the pool, you can put a pair of Dance Til Sunrise earrings in the pocket. Here’s the link to the dress.

Golf Course Getup

Frida Polo UPF +50 in Pink Tropics and 5” Ocean View Short in Inky Navy Glow and Flow

After years of wearing polos to school, I swore I would never wear polos again. Well, the Frida Polo is different, because it is my favorite color, and it’s a made with fabric that will keep you cool and help block the sun. The fabric is really soft, and the pleated collar and embroidered floral neckline make it even cuter. Also, if you’re looking for bracelets, the Island Calypso Bracelet Set is really fun.

Lilly Pulitzer makes the best shorts, and these are no exception. If you’re doing something active, or you’re just looking for a pair of shorts to pull over your swimsuit, the Ocean View Shorts are great. With pockets in the front, and one on the back it’s the perfect pair of shorts to hold keys, a cell phone, or even a spare golf ball. The waist on these is stretchy, and it’s easy to get comfy.

Did you notice the Stainless Steel Wine Glass I’m holding? It is a wonderful hostess gift for the next pool party you go to. No one likes spilling their drink. You could even bring a bottle of something lovely and keep it cool in the Beach Cooler. The inside is insulated, and there’s an adjustable strap, so it’s perfect for a day at the beach, pool, or golf course.

Everyday Ensemble

Elsa Silk Top in Breakwater Tint Party Wave and 5” Buttercup Stretch Short in Bali Blue

This is the first time I’ve ever tried on an Elsa, and I loved it. The lightweight silk fabric is perfect for wearing during the summer. The neckline is not too low, and the gold buttons actually say, Lilly! The smocking around the neck is a nice touch, too. If you aren’t afraid of dry cleaning, this is a wonderful top. These shorts, on the other hand, are machine washable and oh so cute! I love the scalloped edge of the shorts, and I like the length of these. Buttercup Shorts go with just about everything.

Summer Soiree

Preston Tie Sleeve Dress in Breakwater Tint Party Wave

Preston Tie Sleeve Dress in Breakwater Tint Party Wave-These 3/4 length tie sleeves are a cute touch on a great dress. The shirttail hem compliments the crew neckline and is figure flattering. I’m 5’2” and it fell at mid-knee length, a bit longer than the Declan Dress. The Preston Dress is perfect to wear in the office, to run errands, or even to a graduation ceremony.

Ready to Wear Ruffles

Tisbury Shift Dress in Resort White Flock Together Engineered Knit Dress

The Tisbury Shift Dress has a special place in my heart because I got to wear it in my first fashion show. The thick French Terry material is machine washable, and very forgiving. I love the ruffle neck, and the neckline line is the perfect length. This would be great for Mother’s Day or an evening out on the town.

Mermaid Maxi

Sloane Dress in Coastal Blue Catch N Keep

Since I’m short I don’t normally wear maxi dresses, but I really wanted to try it on anyway. I felt like a goddess and the empire waistline is flattering on everyone. The v neck is great for getting that summer sun, too. The fabric is a knit material that can be hand washed. I can see wearing the Sloane Dress to a summer wedding, or a night on the beach.

Soft Sundress

Kristen Dress in Blue Haven Little Flamenco

This was my favorite thing I tried on. The swing fit looks good on everybody, and the back has a cute lattice detail. It does go a little low in the back, but you could always wear a bandeau if you wanted to. The Pima cotton material is perfect for hot summer days. With a cute pair of sandals, you can do just about anything in the Kristen Dress

Wrap Up

This is a picture of the Tisbury Shift Dress I wore in my first fashion show.

I am wearing a large or 12 in everything. Also unless I mentioned otherwise, everything can be machine washed in cold water on a delicate cycle then hung to dry. When I buy clothes I look for things I can wear different ways, and that will go with other pieces for when I travel.

Besides the Lilly, the necklace I am wearing is a Kendra Scott Chelsea Gold Pendant Necklace in Ivory Mother of Pearl, and an Alex and Ani Pull Chain Bracelet in silver. My earrings are old Kate Spade studs but here are similar ones.  In all these pictures I’m wearing Gianni Bini Juudeth Leather Wedges in Dark Sierra Tan. After trying on more than 15 pairs of shoes, these were the most comfortable and the easiest to walk in, and here’s the link! Even though there’s a small ankle strap, neutral wedges help give the illusion that your legs are longer.

What was your favorite outfit? Let me know in the comments below or on Instagram!

Thank you to Lilly Pulitzer at the Bridgestreet Belk for inviting me to try on the new arrivals!

With Love from the East Coast,
