So back in October, Smile Brilliant contacted me about trying their product and writing a review. Since I was looking for a way to whiten my teeth literally the day before, I was curious about this company that emailed me out of the blue, and agreed to try their products.

I’m teaming up with Smile Brilliant to giveaway one lucky ECE reader their own T-3 Sensitive System Whitening Kit! And I’ll be sharing my code for 15% off store-wide.

I have tried whitening my teeth in the past, but I couldn’t really tell that anything was happening. Maybe they seemed shinier, but all I know was that my teeth really hurt afterwards and I stopped doing it. I have really sensitive teeth and that was one of the reservations I had before agreeing to work with Smile Brilliant. Sophia, the wonderful girl I’ve been working with, told me that she would include their desensitizing gel, so I would be able to whiten my teeth without discomfort. And let me tell you, that stuff is what made the difference for me.

Opening my box of goodies!

Smile Brilliant sends you a kit with all the whitening/desensitizing gel, impression trays, and the putty stuff you use to make the impressions. Luckily, they give you enough putty for three impressions. Thank goodness, because I messed up one. There’s a base putty and then an activator putty and you mix it together for a minute, then you have to quickly put it in a tray. After your tray is ready, you make your impressions. When you make your impressions, it’s so much easier to be standing up and looking in a mirror vs trying to do it with an eye shadow pallet mirror on your bed. I definitely did not mess one up that way (I totally tried doing it that way, and messed up a tray waiting to long to get from the bed to the mirror.)

I sent my impressions back in the envelope they send you in the kit, and about a week later I got my trays back! In the past, I’ve had to wait over a month to have my trays made, so I was really excited when they came in the mail about a week later. That first week I only used the sensitivity gel, so I could prep my teeth for the whitening process. My nighttime ritual includes brushing and flossing my teeth, and it was really easy to just add the extra step of using the sensitivity gel. I put stuff into the trays and turned on a tv show and got in bed. Then at the end of the episode I got up and spit out the rest, don’t rinse it off because the gel needs to sit on your teeth overnight.

When I got to the point where I was ready to whiten my teeth, I made sure that the whitening gel was evenly distribute, because it would look weird if you just had a single white strip on your teeth. Smile Brilliant helps you out by including a small paintbrush looking thing to get the gel in the tray. Then I smeared some vaseline over my gums, just to help with sensitivity, and popped the trays in for thirty minutes. After thirty minutes, I rinse the trays out and dry them completely before adding the desensitizing gel and only do it for another fifteen minutes. I always try to get up and clean them, before I put my retainer in, but some nights I will admit I just fall asleep.

It sounds weird, but on the nights that I whiten my teeth I don’t brush my teeth with toothpaste, and that’s what smile brilliant tells you to do. It has something to do with the enamel on your teeth. I can’t totally remember exactly why.

I think that anyone looking to whiten their teeth needs to look into this! I really have been impressed with everything from the product to the customer service. And I want to say thank you to Sophia at Smile Brilliant for waiting so patiently for me to go through the process, because I have had this in the works since October and just was able to finish this up! But most importantly I have the before and after pictures to show my process. I am going to keep going until I get where I want to be, and there’s still more to go, but I will keep using Smile Brilliant, because it’s making difference. I don’t think it would be healthy if I was able to pass the “tissue test” but I’m closer than I was a few months ago!
